Preparing for our Flight back home!
Our Africa Tour is at ist end. Prepare yourself fort he next travel log!
SEE YA!
Day 1 in camp:
We arrived yesterday. The climet here is very hard to take, but the variety of different wildlife is worth it!
There are some more guests at the camp, I think they are Britains. One of them is very funny and has got some typical English humour. The first highlight of the evening is just in time: Shortly before supper we see a dead African Buffalo drifting by in the river next to the camp.
The british comment on that: “Mmmh… it was tired of waiting for supper!“
The camp really looks beautiful! In the middle of nowhere, between tropical plants, palms and green… ahm.. “stuff”
there are many tracks and trails, seeming to lead into the green nothingness. Following them, you get to the particular safari tents.

Despite the plants around, you can see your direct neighbours on the terrace.
In the center of the camp you can find the reception and bar. Here you will find some food, three times a day. As I’ve written before: With plenty of salt, lime and coke this stuff is quite enjoyable… or better say: edible!
Besides the tent tracks more trails lead out oft he camp. Exploring these would be fun and interesting.
On the west end the Rufiji River runs past us. Not very deep but the stream is quite fast.
The very best is the view of a little hippo pod, right in front of my tent! The heavyweight animals share their home with monitor lizzards, crocodiles and many colourful birds. All of them can be heard, seen and observed 24 hours a day!
During the night this fact gets most exciting! When all the allday noises end (except for the snoring of dad!!) it seems you can hear every single wildlife out there! Around midnight there is a surprise! One of the monkeys living in the camp really likes me (I guess…and hope so!) and visits me at the front terrace. After he piddled on the roof of my tent the little thing throws every stick and stone it can find. “Nice to meet you, too – my friend!!!” :-P
Suddenly my little friend stops to tick me off and doesn’t move any more. Party is over?
Because the sudden silence seems weird to me, I switch on the flashlight and I give light to the front door. And WOAA!!! This little scrambling sewer rat gives a real scare to me, because it sits at the front door – observing me!! Even the little monkey gets really scared and disappears in the dark.
But the shock doesn’t seem to be that big, because in the following days the beastly neighbour will visit me every night…throwing sticks and stones…and his lunch!

Out time in Tanzania is incredible! The more you look around the more you explore!
Plenty of wildlife and the great view make a fierce competition to every cine movie! To write about every single day would blast the capacity of this blog.
Every day is a new experience and a new adventure. Every day you get more fascinated to Africa.
And the fact to celebrate New Year’s Eve in the middle of Africa is even more exciting.

Together with Germans, Britains, Indians, Japanese and the citizens of the park we welcome the new year 2009 and look forward to the next day with safaris.
Samuel, one of our new friends, shows us some pictures of his family on his mobile phone. He shows us the picture of his little son and tells us that he is looking forward to visit his family in Dar Es Salaam soon. At 1AM the lights turn off suddenly. Power Off for today! So we finish our New Year’s Eve Party and fall asleep on our plank beds very early this night.

On our way tot he camp. In a very old Land Cruiser we blaze the trail with our driver Rasanthani and two other attendants through the sandy and dirty trails of Tanzania. At each bigger hill the engine of our car howls and we get scared if the car will make it. The attendants have fun. All of them are doing stuff with their mobiles and seem to talk to funny people. Besides, it must look very funny how I try to write my logbook on this rocky road.
Suddenly there is a road roller on our way. Great service – in the middle of nowhere! Now we can speed up a little.

At the roadside we can see small villages, with kids and adults selling bananas, Cashew Nuts , pineapples and other fruits. Most of them I’ve never seen before. Our driver stops for a second and gets some Cashew Nuts for us. Suddenly the whole village is standing all round us, so we have to hurry up and keep on driving. On the left and right of the track there’s only… green! Palms, trees, grass, bushes passing by.
At noon we arrive at „Kutani“. Moreless crossroad, with a patrol station and Quonsets, than village, but we find something to eat…
Fries and… meat. But how it’s prepared or what kind of meat is it…?? I am not very interested!!
But with plenty of salt, lime and coke this stuff is quite enjoyable…
Passing by, we buy a big unknown fruit… looking like a dead green sea urchin…
“Water inside!”, one of our attendants yells this info cross the parking lot. Done with it… Thanks fort he info!
For the rest of the track I have to stop writing into my logbook. I thought the street in front of us couldn’t be worse… but it is! Robin just saw three monkeys we passed by. There you are! Just forget to look around one second and muss something quite cool!
